During Fall, there’s something so special about the quality of light in and around Vancouver. There's a kind of golden glow, especially at dusk. The perfect way to capture it? With a sunset photo shoot Wreck Beach.
This beach photo shoot was actually part of a love session giveaway that we ran. The prize we offered was a Vancouver engagement shoot / couple shoot. The winners, Cam and Hillary, are a talented, humble couple – the best kind of people. We couldn’t have been happier that they were our competition winners. Cont’d after gallery.
Hillary is an art director and interior stylist for Article Furniture, and Cam is a one of the Goal Guys on YouTube. We actually photographed Hillary's twin sister's wedding, so it was great to reconnect with friends!
Choosing to do Cam and Hillary’s couple’s shoot at Wreck Beach (which, incidentally, would make an amazing Vancouver engagement shoot location!) did mean we had to do a lot of stair-climbing… The location lies at the base of a cliff, so the trails are fairly steep with about 500 wooden steps on Trail 6. But it was definitely worth the effort!
Our hope was to capture the natural ease shared between these two, and their deep affection for one another. We love how their playfulness came through in many of the photos, and of course there was a bit of wild last-light dancing to keep warm on a beautiful but blustery Fall day.
If you do want to do a UBC Beach engagement shoot, it’s worth bearing in mind that Wreck Beach is ‘clothing-optional’. So you might (like us!) encounter more skin than you bargained for while exploring this part of the beautiful Pacific Spirit Regional Park.
